Southern California Sporting Spaniel Club

An AKC all spaniel breed club dedicated to field events and hunting

About Us

The Southern California Sporting Spaniel Club was established in 2001 by a group of southern California cocker spaniel owners for the purpose of holding AKC cocker spaniel field trials.  It quickly became evident that many other spaniel owners were looking for a local club that also had interests in hunting and hunting tests.  Since most of the original group were also hunters and had strong interests in hunting tests, the scope of the club was broadened to encompass all spaniel breeds and hunting interests in addition to field trials.

We are currently licensed by the AKC to host Spaniel Hunt Tests and Cocker Field Trials.  We have hosted a number these events at the Prado Dog Training Grounds in Chino, CA.

Our focal point and primary geographic member area (AKC requirement) is the greater Los Angeles area, including LA County, Orange County and Riverside County, no further east than Hemet and no further south than Mission Viejo.  We also welcome associate members from beyond this area and have active members from all around California as well as Arizona, Utah, Montana and North Dakota.
